Our Heritage

Diaspora sisterhood, built on action.

MOWHA unites Manyu diaspora women across Canada, fostering economic independence and cultural pride through generational mentorship and community-led uplift.

Manyu Women Association Canada (MOHWA)—named after the Keyang word Mohwa, meaning "my child," and affiliated with MOHWA Global Cameroon—is a registered Black-led, non-profit organization serving Manyu women and girls across Black Canadian communities. We create inclusive spaces for knowledge exchange, mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement. Through sociocultural programs, skills training, economic empowerment initiatives, and mutual aid services, we help build resilience, opportunity, and self-sufficiency for members and their families. We preserve and celebrate Manyu cultural heritage while fostering pride, intergenerational learning, and active civic participation. We advocate for the elimination of harmful customary and traditional practices that negatively affect girls and women, while promoting policies and public initiatives that protect and advance the rights of girls. We collaborate with culturally aligned organizations and community partners to expand our impact, operate with integrity and transparency, and deliver sustainable, community-led solutions that strengthen solidarity, accessibility, inclusion, and long-term development for Manyu women and girls across Canada.
